Call for application to attend the Applied Environmental Econometrics: Natural Capital, Ecosystem service Valuation, and Natural Resource Management Professional Course scheduled on WEEK OF AUGUST 22ND, 2022
AIPD’s training programmes are designed to bridge the skills gap between the academia and the industry, hence a co-creation approach is used and brings on board industry experts and academicians in the design process. The blended approach is used in training delivery and skills are provided in a more practical way to ensure that learners apply the skills they gain to contribute to the growth of their industry of interest. Our focus is currently in the areas of projects’ impact evaluation, Economics and financial service, and applied statistics and data management.

Introduction
The three modules of this certificate programme will introduce course participants to the application of econometrics to ecosystem service, natural capital and natural resources management. It will present topics in an intuitive and practical way that will allow participants to apply what they have learnt in their carriers. Python and InVEST models will be introduced and used for data and economic analysis. Course participants will receive certificates after the completion of each module and a certificate after completing all three modules.

Module I: Introduction to Python, Data Analysis, and Econometrics
Module Description:This module will introduce course participants to using Python for econometrics and data analysis. It will review basic topics in statistics, probability, and regression and then proceed to using Python for exploratory data analysis, linear regression, and hypothesis testing. After completing this course, the course participants will have a basic proficiency in using Python for data analysis, statistics, and econometrics. The module will be conducted over a period of six weeks meeting six hours per week.

Module II: Geospatial Analysis and InVEST
Module Description: This module will cover the concept of ecosystem services and their valuation. Course participants will learn basic spatial data analysis and how to use the program InVEST. The module will be conducted over a period of seven weeks meeting six hours per week.

Module III: Environmental Econometrics: Ecosystem Service Valuation and Natural Resource Management.
Course Description: This module will introduce course particpants to the concepts of environmental econometrics, ecosystem services and natural capital monetization, multi-criteria analysis, and linear programming. After completing this course participants will have practical understanding of how to apply python to the valuation of ecosystem services and natural resource management. The module will be conducted over a period of four weeks meeting six hours per week.

Practical activities will take place in the afternoon, guided by an inquiry-based approach that will encourage participants to apply new knowledge and skills to research topics relevant to their interests.
