Consultancy to develop a Mapping report
Reporting to: Chance for Childhood Country Representative

Geographical Location of the Project: Huye & Bugesera Districts
About Chance for Childhood
Chance for Childhood is an award-winning charity working in Africa to support the most vulnerable children, such as street children, disabled children, children affected by conflict, and kids behind bars. Our vision is of a world where no child is forgotten!
We work with African visionary community leaders to implement locally relevant yet far-reaching projects that create lasting change within the justice, education, and social protection sectors. This enables us to focus on ‘hard to reach’ children, both in terms of their complex needs (e.g., street children with learning difficulties) and location (e.g., urban violent slums or remote rural areas). Together we make ideas and impact both sustainable and scalable to protect, educate and empower even more of the world’s most disadvantaged children.
Our interventions in Africa are in Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)

Project Background
The current consultancy will be conducted in Rwanda where Chance for Childhood Rwanda has started to implement a 1-year Family Strengthening and Community Based Support for Care of Children with Disabilities in Families programme in collaboration with UNICEF Rwanda in 2 Districts (Bugesera & Huye). The project aims to achieve successful reintegration of children with disabilities and prevent new family separation, through innovative strategies to deliver results for children and their families by:
• Facilitating referrals access to disability‐related specific services like education, healthcare, and (re) habilitation, and social protection.
• Engaging with key players including local government, DPOs, FBOs, the wider community, and families to set up peer support groups and build resilience and
• Increasing the capacity of communities to support children and their families through awareness-raising and sensitization of communities and local leaders to systematically address social norms, stigma, and discrimination.
To achieve the above-mentioned results, CfC conducted the mapping of children with disabilities which will help categorize impairments and experienced disability based on a pre-defined and internationally recognized categorization system as well as documenting the support needs of children and their families So that CfC & UNICEF could respond by providing a comprehensive package of intervention.

Consultancy Purpose
The consultant will be expected to provide an analysis of the qualitative & quantitative data collected by enumerators and CfC team and generate a comprehensive mapping report reflecting the following objectives:
• Identify all children from birth to 17 years 11 months of age who live with impairment(s) and experience disability, in the districts of Huye and Bugesera.
• Understand the categories of impairment and disability experienced by the children identified.
• Understand the support needs of the children identified, and their families
Please refer to the Terms of Reference (ToR) for additional information.
