Hands of Mothers Rwanda
Interim Management Position
Hands of Mothers is a US-based nonprofit organization that creates economic opportunities for vulnerable women through education, training, business development and micro-lending. We have been working in Rwanda since 2009, exclusively with women who are living with HIV/AIDS in partnership with the US-based organization, WE-ACTx (Women’s Equity In Access to Care and Treatment).
We are seeking an Interim Program Manager for a 4.5-month contract. The position will begin on April 15, 2019 and terminate on August 31, 2019. During this period of time our Program Manager and Assistant Program Manager will be on leave.
Job description
A. General management
• Supervise the work of our 2 Management Associates (MAs)
• Insure they are fulfilling their weekly Hands of Mothers work commitments in a professional manner
• Advise Rwanda/US management immediately if any problems/questions arise with program participants, staff or WE-ACTx
• Maintain regular, ongoing communication with Hands of Mothers U.S. Director
B. Program management
• Savings and Lending Groups
• Meet weekly with the members of the WE-ACTx Sex Workers Support Group and lead the weekly savings and lending group meeting
• Insure proper functioning – that rules are understood and respected
• Mediate issues and help to resolve problems between members
• Promote and track repayment of loans
• Interface with WE-ACTx for Hope staff to insure mutual objectives are met
2. Education Initiative Program
Adult literacy
• Monitor the functioning of the adult literacy program
• Assist and supervise the work of our MA School Fees Program
• Insure that students and mothers are complying with the terms of their Hands of Mothers contract prior to payment of school fees for the next term
• Attendance Grades
• Submission of documents to Hands of Mothers for review Cooperatives
• Maintain current relationships and roles to insure mutual goals are met
• Supervise the work of our MAs when they are assisting Cooperatives in need
• Fletcher University Summer Intern
• Supervise orientation of summer intern to Kigali and Hands of Mothers
• Manage the administration of the Hands of Mothers assessment survey interviews
• Arrange interviews
• Serve as onsite translator
• Translate results into English
• Individual entrepreneurs
• Supervise the implementation of small business of our participants
• Assist and supervise the work of our MA
• Monitoring loan repayment
