JOB DETAILS:
The UNFPA Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme is intended to provide on-the-job training for young professionals who wish to obtain practical experience in development assistance. It gives them an opportunity to acquire professional knowledge in population projects in a developing country.
UNDP Bosnia and Herzegovina has a long-standing experience in various projects supporting vulnerable women and youth. The current 6-year Conflict-Related Sexual Violence project is in the phasing out stage in 2021, while efforts to address the fragile GBV structure, exposed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The work on CRSV has exposed the need for greater involvement of youth in efforts to combat stigma against CRSV survivors, as well the need for wider peace and reconciliation efforts.
UNDP BiH will continue to support both processes relating to empowerment of women, and infrastructure to support survivors, while at the same time supporting transformative approaches towards peace and reconciliation. .

Duties and Responsibilities
• In collaboration with UNFPA staff, Government counterparts, advisers, NGOs and other partners contributes substantively to the formulation and design of the country programme projects and its component projects in line with Government priorities and according to UNFPA programme policies and procedures. Ensures quality of programme/project design incorporating lessons learned, newly developed policies and best practices and establishing appropriate execution and monitoring mechanisms and systems.
• Analyzes and interprets the political and social environment relevant to survivors of Conflict-related sexual Violence (CRSV) and survivors of GBV, specifically focusing on stigmatization of survivors, their offspring and families, inter-generational transfer of trauma and social cohesion in divided communities or those deeply impacted by the war-related pain and trauma. Keeps abreast of new policy developments and strategies, analyzing policy papers, strategy documents, national plans, civil society and faith-based organizations initiatives, and prepares briefs and inputs for policy dialogue, technical assistance coordination and development frameworks that tackle the issue of conflict-related sexual violence and the position of survivors in the society.
• Analyzes and reports on programme and project progress in terms of achieving results, using existing monitoring and evaluation tools and introducing new mechanisms and systems; identifies constraints and resource deficiencies and recommends corrective action.
• Expedites and provides direct support to coordination of project implementation establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies, experts, government counterparts, civil society and faith-based organizations and other UN agencies facilitating timely and efficient delivery of project inputs and addressing training needs of project personnel.
