Announcement: Launch of Certified Microfinance Professional Level 1 and 2 Training Programs for the 2024 Intake.

Background

RICEM (Rwanda Institute for Cooperative, Entrepreneurship, and Microfinance) was launched in June 2014 as a Vocational Technical Institute for the three pillars, namely Cooperatives, Entrepreneurship, and Microfinance. RICEM in partnership with AMIR (Association of Microfinance Institutions in Rwanda), and other key Microfinance stakeholders introduced a professional training program for Microfinance known as Certified Microfinance Professional Program (CMP) since 2021. CMP is composed of two level i.e. CMP Level 1 and CMP Leve 2. The training is built around a competency-based approach to teaching and learning, which includes the development of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behavior.

RICEM is now calling upon interested trainees especially workers of Microfinance institutions to apply for the coming September intake 2024 for the CMP Level 1 and Level 2 training programs. The deadline for application is 31^st August 2024. Interested candidate can apply through HERE after carefully reading the further information provided below:

Requirements to apply for CMP level 1 (Weekend Program)

The applicant should fulfill all the criteria below:

• Employees of MFIs occupying any of the Technical Positions (for e.g. Cashiers, Loan Officers, Accountants etc.)
• Fresh Gradutes sent by MFI.
• Minimum High school Diploma of Education
• Willing to abide by RICEM training regulations and policies.
• Capable of speaking and writing in English since English will be the medium of instruction.

Duration of the program: 9 months

Requirements to apply for CMP level 2 (Weekend Program)

The applicant should fulfill the criteria below:

• Minimum 3 years of working experience in the microfinance or banking sector at the Top Management Position + bachelor’s degree
• OR Minimum 5 years of working experience in the microfinance or banking sector at the Middle Management Position (for e.g. Head of department) + bachelor’s degree
• OR CMP level 1 certificate
• Willing to abide by RICEM training regulations and policies.
• Capable of speaking and writing in English since English will be the medium of instruction.

The classroom trainings are scheduled to commence with preliminary meetings in September 2024.

Note: This announcement is primarily for MFI employees at the technical level and managerial levels. Senior Six leavers and fresh graduates interested in joining the MFI sector are encouraged to wait for the next intake of CMP Level 1 under Dual Apprenticeship System in December 2024.
