Background and Rationale

Data is the new oil of the digital economy, and the ability to extract meaningful insights from it has become a core skill for businesses, governments, and professionals. Globally, industries are rapidly adopting data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to drive evidence-based decision-making, optimize operations, and innovate faster.

However, in many parts of Africa, including Rwanda, there remains a significant skills gap in advanced data analytics and the practical application of AI tools. Professionals and organizations often lack the technical expertise to leverage modern platforms such as Python, Power BI, and generative AI tools, limiting their competitiveness in a data-driven global market.

The Professional Data Analytics & Generative AI Program addresses this gap by providing hands-on, practical training tailored to equip learners with industry-ready skills. Participants will not only gain proficiency in widely used analytics tools but also learn to harness the power of generative AI for smarter insights, automation, and innovation.

This program is designed to transform learners into confident professionals who can clean, analyze, visualize, and interpret data to solve real-world problems—while ensuring they are aligned with international standards, as the certification is endorsed by the Institute of Analytics (IOA, UK).

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

• Collect, clean, and analyze data using Excel and Python.
• Build dashboards and visualizations with Power BI.

1. Excel for Data Analytics
   • Data cleaning, organization, and basic analysis techniques.

   • Data wrangling, statistical analysis, and visualization using libraries like Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib and Seaborn.
3. Power BI for Business Intelligence
   • Building interactive dashboards and visual reports.
4. Generative AI for Smarter Insights
   • Using ChatGPT and similar tools for automation, reporting, and decision support.
5. Capstone Project
   • An integrated project applying Excel, Python, Power BI, and AI to a real-world dataset.
