The management of Luna Smelter Ltd informs the public that it is recruiting a competent, qualified and experienced person to the following position:

Position Title: Smelting Team Leader

Report to: Production Manager

Organization overview:

Luna Smelter Ltd is a leading responsible high quality tin supplier located in Karuruma, Tetero, Jabana, Gasabo District in Kigali, Rwanda.

Position overview

• We are seeking a skilled and experienced Team Leader to support operations in the Production Department.
• This position is essential for overseeing furnace operations, leading the smelting team, and ensuring compliance with safety and efficiency standards.
• The ideal candidate must have a strong background in Mining Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, as these backgrounds align well with the technical demands of the role.
• This role involves coordinating with various departments, ensuring compliance with Smelting regulations, and optimizing the production processes.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited:

a.Operate the arc furnace in accordance with internal standards.

b.Lead the tapping operation in accordance with internal standards.

c. Manage and lead the smelting team.

d. Communicate and direct the application of prescribed safety and environmental regulations.

e. Lead the maintenance of the main furnace and its auxiliaries, under the supervision of the management.

f. Champion energy savings initiatives.

g. Ensure proper, efficient, and effective work methods.

h. Oversee proper operation and utilization of equipment to prevent damage and minimize repair.

i. Diagnose and solve furnace breakdown problems.

j. Control employee attendance and manage turnover.

k. Press and adjust controls to activate, set, and regulate equipment according to specifications.

l. Supervise the charge composition under the direction of the metallurgist.

m. Supervise the refining process under the direction of the metallurgist.

n. Ensure the furnace environment is clean.

o. Perform other duties assigned by superiors as per current organizational requirements.

Desired qualifications, skills and competencies:

• Minimum BSC degree in Mining engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• At least two years of work experience in mining or smelting or manufacturing field
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of relevant mining laws and regulations.
• Ability to work in challenging conditions and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Level of Education: bachelor degree
