Position: Tea Farm Manager
A tea company operating in Rwanda is seeking to recruit a Farm Manager for immediate placement.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Field Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for effective control and monitoring of tea plantation activities in order to achieve maximum productivity at minimum cost
The incumbent will be expected to:
Operations
• Mobilization of pluckers
• Manage plucking/harvesting operation and maximize field production
• Ensures that best-operating practices are implemented and adhered to in the entire supply chain of green leaf from bush to factory.
• Manage green leaf production and all the transport logistics for the plantations
• Will be accountable for the delivery of the best quality of green leaf to a factory.
• Coordinate fertiliser application (, distribution and applications).
Staff
• Develop training programs for all supervisor to enable him to meet the business plan, both short and long terms.
• Communicate all field policies and procedures and manage field staff relations.
• Building capacity of supervisors through sustained training to maximize the green leaf quality and production.
Others
• Prepare and deliver Farmer Field Schools including the curriculum
• Support mechanized harvesting including the rollout, management and
• Supports implementation of regulations as demanded certification bodies eg Rainforest Alliance.
• Arrange and/or participate in all farmers meetings
• Establish and develop tea and gum seedling nurseries including monitoring costs for the establishment of pricing to the farmers and securing the farmers annual requirements..

Qualifications:

• Graduate in Food Science, Agriculture, Production Technology, Agricultural, or any other related study
• At least ten (10) years progressive work experience in related areas
• Proven practical agronomic and senior management experience, with a private tea company
• Direct experience in engaging with smallholders in key areas identified
• Fluency in, Kinyarwanda, English and
• Computer literate
