The National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) would like to recruit self-motivated and qualified candidates to fill the following position

Job Profile

Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agriculture engineering, Agro economics, Rural engineering, or related field with a minimum of five (5) years working experience in tea sector

Or

Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agriculture engineering, Agro economics, Rural engineering, or related field with a minimum of three (3) years working experience in tea sector
Job Description

Under the direct supervision of Traditional Commodities Division Manager, the Tea Value Chain Specialist will perform the following duties & Responsibilities:

  • Planning, developing, executing and advising on sustainable strategies and policies of production in the Tea value chain.
  • Planning for sustainable technical interventions of high value green leaves production and value addition.
  • Identifying and advising on appropriate innovations, technologies and best practices for adoption in tea production;
  • Conducting capacity building training, seminars, workshops and mentoring of tea producers and processors in production, and handling techniques;
  • Supporting producers to adopt the Standards Operating Procedures (SOPs) in production of quality tea for export market;
  • Coordinating with the appropriate stakeholders to ensure provision of appropriate land for expansion, gap filling, extension, finance and information services for high value tea exports;
  • Facilitating linkages of tea actors to the input’s services providers.
  • Creating and facilitating linkages with local authorities and other relevant institutions to support the increase of tea production for export.
  • Be a link between tea producers and processors and divisions, RAB, FERWACOTHE, RALIS and inputs service providers

Key Competences

Strong ability to develop marketing plans and strategies for flowers and to work towards their realization and improvement under demanding performance schedules;

  • Excellent time management, administrative and organizational skills;
  • Excellent skills in office productivity software;
  • Ability to work successfully individually and as part of a team;
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure with flexible attitude to work;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (both French and English);
  • Organization and planning skills;
  • Problem analysis and solving skills;
  • Team leadership;
  • Formal presentation skills;
  • Persuasiveness, adaptability, and innovation;
  • Good in judgement and decision-making skills;
  • Fluent in English and/or French.
