JOB DETAILS:
Book-Keeper/Accountant
Location: Kigali
Objectives: To support the Managing Director as he builds the school up.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:

- Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
- Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
- Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
- Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
- Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
- Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information.
- Secures financial information by completing database backups.
- Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
- Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.
- Complies with state and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management.
- Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
- Accomplishes the result by performing the duty.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Report to: The Managing Director
Assessment: Monthly feedback sessions with the Managing Director, with targets and areas noted for improvement.
Qualifications:
- A good level of Kinyarwanda and English essential. French useful.
- University degree in accounting preferred.
- Accounting, Reporting Skills, Attention to Detail, Deadline-Oriented, Reporting Research Results, Confidentiality, Time Management, Data Entry Management, General Maths Skills
Terms: 25 hours per week, including some evenings and occasional Saturdays. Evenings meaning 5pm-8.30pm; Actual schedule to be arranged with Director. 10 hours unpaid training provided (transport paid). 1 week trial period; 4-month contract June-September.
Competitive salary dependent on performance & experience.
