Call for Proposals: Best Short Film Script Competition

Overview: Calling all Rwandan storytellers and scriptwriters! MURIKAF proudly present an unparalleled opportunity. We invite submissions for our Short Film Script Competition, seeking captivating scripts that encapsulate Rwanda's essence.
Theme: "Resilience and Progress: Narratives of Rwanda's Spirit"
Objective: We're on the hunt for original short film scripts that illuminate Rwanda's resilience, diversity, and promising future. Dive into themes like unity, progress, innovation, community, or any aspect that defines Rwanda's incredible journey.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Open to Rwandan residents and citizens.
- Scripts must be original in Kinyarwanda and English or Kinyarwanda and French.
- Maximum script duration : 15 minutes of screen time.
- One script per participant.
- Writers should possess a copyright Certificate issued by the Registrar General / RDB.
Submission Guidelines:
To submit your script for consideration, please follow the guidelines below. Incomplete submissions will not be assessed.
- Include scripts in standard screenplay format in both Kinyarwanda and English or Kinyarwanda and French.
- Include the writer's name.
- Provide contact details for the writer.
- Include a brief script synopsis.
- Send the prepared file to the email address: info@murikaf.org

Key Dates:
- Call for Scripts Open: January 18, 2024
- Submission Deadline: February 04, 2024
- Announcement of Selected Script: February 09, 2024
- Production Kick-off: February 19, 2024
Awards and Production Process:
- The script selected as the winner will receive an esteemed recognition and a monetary reward of RWF 100,000. This acknowledgment is not only a celebration of creativity but also a testament to the script's exceptional quality.
- The winning script will be produced by MURIKAF, up to a maximum production cost of RWF 1,500,000. The winner retains full movie copyright.
- MURIKAF manages production, offering support and resources (within budget).
- The winning writer can engage in the production and earns credit as the scriptwriter.
Judging Criteria:
Scripts will be evaluated on:
- Relevance to the theme
- Originality and creativity
- Narrative structure and storytelling
- Feasibility for production
