Background
CURE International/ Rwanda Clubfoot Program started in September 2009. It is registered as CURE International under Reg N0 024/RGB/17 and is working in partnership with Ministry of Health of Rwanda in 23 government and private hospitals.
For the above hospitals, Cure International has to ensure that the program is funded in a manner consistent with guidelines and known best practices in Ponseti method of clubfoot management, Capacity building (trained staff), Coordination, monitoring and evaluation of the program, Implementing the program in a cost-effective way, Community sensitization, Counseling of parents.
To be able to deliver services that meet beneficiaries and partners’ expectation, CURE International/Rwanda Clubfoot Program is looking for a dedicated professional to carry out responsibilities of Clinical Supervisor:
Job Description
Title: Clinical Supervisor: Physiotherapist or Orthopedic officer
Term of Contract: One year (renewable)
Purpose of the position:
To support the overall functioning of the Rwanda Clubfoot Program to eliminate clubfoot as a permanent disability, with main focus on providing supervision, training and mentoring to ensure effective and high-quality clinical treatment of clubfoot in Rwanda.
Key Duties:
- Under the authority and supervision of the Program Manager, the clinical supervisor will assist the program in the following activities:
- Monitor clinical treatment in clinics, providing supervisions and mentoring, putting in place strategies to ensure high-quality treatment of clubfoot by Ponseti method.
- Introduce new health providers (physiotherapist/Orthopedic officer) on the management of clubfoot in their clinics
Monitor patient records, and collect patient reports from clinics
Facilitate training, workshops, and seminars
- Assist in maintaining a database system of patients
- Assist in the creation and education of networks for sensitization, awareness raising, early detection, and patient referral
- Assist in creation and education of networks to support patient treatment, follow up and compliance
- Prepare case stories for donors and other stakeholders
- Assist in publishing or posting success stories articles
- Assist to manage supply logistics and monitor appropriate usage in clinics
- Assist in report preparation, including informal weekly updates in addition to monthly and quarterly reports
- Translation/preparation of relevant literature in local languages
Will be required to travel within Rwanda
- May be required to help physiotherapy staff during some absences at clinic day.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills/Qualities
- To be Rwandan citizen
- Demonstrated ability to motivate people and work effectively in teams and partnerships with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Proficiency in English language, spoken and written
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in management of children with clubfeet using Ponseti technique
- Familiarity with Rwandan Health Care systems and policies is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated commitment and willingness to work in accordance with the mission and statement of faith of CURE International.
- Good interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Demonstrated computer-based skills, including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, e-mail and social media.
- Demonstrated initiative and able to work semi-independently and solve problems
Qualifications: Education and/or Experience Required
- Degree in Physiotherapy / Orthopedic officer or a Diploma in physiotherapy/orthopedic officer associated with another degree in public health or in social sciences.
- Demonstrated ability to treat clubfoot using the Ponseti Method of Treatment
- Demonstrated ability to provide teaching and training of clinical skills
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
- Prior supervisory background
Reporting Relationships:
This position reports to the Program Manager, Cure International /Rwanda Clubfoot Program operationally and to the Regional Program Officer /Clinical for quality clinical oversight.
