Job description
• Be responsible for all Livestock Resources production, management and related policies, strategies and programs within the sector.
• Participate in policy formulation aimed at the use of resource saving production technologies in nutrition and health.
• Coordinate with relevant government agencies, development organizations, NGOs, and other stakeholders on the planning and implementation of livestock and poultry production systems
• Assess the technical soundness of production plan on livestock and poultry designed to improve livelihood of targeted farmers.
• Provide technical advice on issues raised pertaining to livestock and poultry taking into consideration impacts on associated human health risks.
• Recommend and determine the necessary intervention package to commence livelihood means through livestock and poultry production.
• Coordinate closely with other sectors where livestock or poultry is a component (e.g. integration of livestock in rice and maize farming areas.
• Carry out any other relevant duties and participate in policy formulation within his/her technical competence as may be requested by the Director General.

• Monitoring skills in appropriate strategy meant for ensuring prevention, protection and diagnosis treatment of anima disease
