JOB TITLE: PROJECT COORDINATOR
ORGANISATION BACKGROUND
The Organisation of Women in Sports (AKWOS) is a Non-Governmental Organization founded in 2003 that focuses on educating and empowering girls and young women about their rights, their health and HIV and AIDS prevention. We use sport as a unique platform to bring girls and women together to deal with these issues.
MAIN ROLE
AKWOS has recently signed a partnership agreement with Kvinna till Kvinna(KtK) for the “Promoting gender sensitive sports in conflict resolution” project and is looking to hire a project coordinator to manage the project’s activities and ensure seamless operations, implementation and communication.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Executive Director
Timeframe: 1 year, renewable (based on funding)
Tentative start date: ASAP
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Achieving operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards;
- Meeting financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Accomplishing human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees
- communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions;
- enforcing policies and procedures.
- Enhancing department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Have degree qualified in a field related to Project Management?
- Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the specified field. Have knowledge and understanding of the Finance and Audit landscape and operations.
- Be proficient in the use of MS Office suite, especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Be dependable, cooperative and a team player.
- Be able to work independently, pro-actively and have a ‘hands-on’ approach.
- Have excellent task-management skills, able to set and meet deadlines and multi-task effectively.
